Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 championships have been won on hardcourt

A revitalized Medvedev secured his maiden trophy for over two years with success over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.

Medvedev, a former number one, has had a difficult year, managing just one match at the major tournaments and experiencing a meltdown at the American major.

The player's varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his service game in particular - caused him falling of the elite rankings and ultimately parting ways with long-time coach Cervara.

Presently training with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, he has consistently improved in the last few weeks - culminating in a tightly fought three-set triumph over challenger Corentin Moutet.

It is Medvedev's maiden title after the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard surface since March of the previous year.

Success also indicates the Russian has achieved twenty-one titles at 21 distinct events.

"It's the first time I have attended a event with my two daughters at once, so to secure a title is really nice," said tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my second daughter her name, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had been defeated in his last six championship matches, featuring in the German tournament earlier this year.

His defensive approach and frequent outbursts on the tennis court had led observers to wonder if his ability to perform at the highest level was concluded.

However the athlete has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, striving to advance forward and play positively, supported by an better serve.

He recovered from a deficit in the first set against the difficult Moutet, securing 4 of the last five exchanges to gain the advantage.

Both players swapped service breaks in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his initial professional championship, gained dominance to force a final set.

Moutet defended 4 initial break points in a competitive third set before the Russian won the break to 15 to serve for the match.

Fittingly, the winner clinched victory with a rally at the net, with the Frenchman failing to manage a volley after a lengthy match.
