Note: Spoilers for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
Episode 3 ended with a dramatic pause and revealed the premier party of heroes who will separate from the primary party to embark on their own adventure, apart from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table consists of Teor Pridesire (brought to life by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
With a large ensemble, it was evident from the start that keeping everyone at a single group would be impossible.
That’s why, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, weaving together the characters’ stories before dividing into three separate parties: Fighters, Strategists, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
As described by the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for players who prefer a classically intense combat and conflict-driven narrative style where non-violent answers are rare.
At first glance, figures such as the reluctant priest the cleric might look out of place, but the developments of the third episode demonstrate why these particular heroes are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the team knows exactly where to proceed after a violent initial meeting with the enemy group.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose passing kicked off the story’s plot—exploited The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, breaking into the secret base, striking the character, and stealing all the enchanted items to sell off.
The antagonist then settled his debts and escaped to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd close behind.
Personal Motivations
Moreover, each adventurer has a individual motive to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as the companion and trusted friend, desires revenge.
- The adventurer is familiar with Timmony and advises that it is a dangerous environment.
- The strong character and Wicander, having resisted his family’s wishes to execute Teor and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their position as important members in House Halovar could help the party reach places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, The fighter pledged a life debt to The cleric for his salvation and will now follow him wherever.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are sought by the powers that rule the setting for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- The rogue and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and The healer turned against the influential house and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This means them no alternative but to head to the remote area in search of the traitor.
Future Episodes
According to episode three’s post-show segment, we find out that the Soldiers table will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight participants to round up the Seekers and Schemers tables.
Fans can expect discovering which characters will be where in the season’s last Overture episode, released on next week.
