Vinted Shoppers Share Displeasure About Size Updates

Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to listings displaying inaccurate size information.

The second-hand shopping app has updated its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel failing to inform all users about the change.

Digital Channels Backlash

Many shoppers and sellers are posting online saying Vinted listings now show a different size category compared to what was initially listed due to the recalibration.

Vinted explained the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.

The platform has recommended to review their products and update the measurements by hand if necessary, resulting in member annoyance.

Measurement Approach Changes

Previously, the sizing featured a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10.

The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10.

With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.

User Accounts

Frankie Bridger, who creates plus-size fashion videos, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".

"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.

Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as larger sizing 20-22.

"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.

Manual Updates

A different user, based in Derby, said she had been left angered due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item".

"This situation is especially annoying, because of my ongoing medical condition and platform income has been essential following partial earnings loss," she explained.

Platform Context

The app has more than 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK.

It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.

This is not the initial instance that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: earlier, the service retracted a modification regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
